Balmain is Dope AF!

Ok, I really didn't know much about Balmain only that Kanye West was really backing it. He and many other celebrities have given the House of Balmain new life. At first I was under the impression that Balmain was some new designer, a black man. I know, please don't judge me for my ignorance. Balmain has been around long before any of us were born. Since 1914 to be exact; and the black guy, Olivier Rousteing (really mixed race... like me yay), is a designer but not only a designer affiliated with Balmain, but the Creative Director since 2012. His work has been the heart beat of why Balmain is known among younger spirits. Thanks to Olivier Rousteing, Balmain has been mentioned in many rap songs... that says a lot. Here is a photo of his sexy self.



Now that we know what Balmain is and who Olivier Rousteing is can we regular people wear the clothes? The answer is no. The average person would not be able to comfortably afford the super cute designs. A "Logo print tank top" is $280.


We can all dream right? Save up those "Coints" ladies and gents if you really want the real Balmain because pieces range from $280 - $25,000. Check out one of the most expensive pieces for women...

Miracle Gel by Sally Hansen... does it really work?

I was excited about this nail polish from Sally Hansen. No light needed. I chose 2 colors. The first color I tried was #170 Pink Cadillaquer and #220 Pink Tank along with the top coat (in the black bottle) which pretty much seals the deal.

Pros: With a second coat there are no streaks. Does not take long to dry (about 1.5 minutes). I'm super busy so I needed a nail polish that would last. In my personal experience this polish lasted about 4 days without chipping. If you are not a busy person or not as hands on as I am it should last a couple more days.

Cons: Its still not as good as using a light. Not as shiny as a gel manicure but much better than using regular nail polish. Not much of a color variety at any one store. You have to go to a couple different stores to score the colors you want. The colors are a little dull but I guess dull is good if you have an office job. I'm waiting on glitter colors. I love glitter.

If you want to invest your money on good polish you should definitely purchase a couple bottles of this product. Each bottle runs between $9 to $12 depending on the store.

Models and Fashion Designer Call

Are you an aspiring model? Do you have a child with pizazz and personality? Are you an up and coming Fashion Designer? If so, we want you.

Celeb Fashion Designer Derrick L. Hughes is looking for aspiring female models (adults & children) and Fashion Designers for his 1st Annual Fashion Showcase during New York Fashion Week, Audition information as follows:

Date: Saturday, August 10, 2013
Time 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Location: 308 W. 133rd Street,
NY, NY 10027

Model Requirements

Must be between 6-13 and 18-30 years of age
Children must be able to walk in heels or flats (no sneakers)
Adults must be able to walk in at least 3 1/2'' heels or higher
Registration fee $100 for adults and $50.00 for children

Although, this is a Fashion Showcase we will declare the person who "Ripped the Runway". This person(s) will receive a free fashion shoot with exclusive DHL fashion garments to include hair and make-up, Exclusive Gift bag full of goodies "Everything Girls Love". In addition, this person will have the opportunity to be managed by AMG and appear on the Official DHL website.

Fashion Designer Requirements

Must audition to showcase line (at least 3 garments from one or various collections)
Must be available for rehearsals
Must provide at least 2 collections for Fashion Showcase
Showcase fee $250 (Fee is all inclusive, DLH will provide, location, photographers, refreshments, MUA, hairstylist, and models)

In addition, your line will appear on Red Carpet Step & Repeat and will have the option of auctioning a few garments from your collection during the showcase.
