Young & Gifted

Hey Beautiful People,

So, I was scrolling through some fashion shots taken by my friend Marc J. recently and instantly fell in love the NaMoir Collection. I'm a DC native so it always pleases me to see young people from my city doing something productive with such passion. This collection was designed by a talented young lady by the name of TKayy. Her designs are urban but they have a textural essence that I can see being rocked by the biggest names in fashion. I'm showing my support by getting a customized NaMoir dress. Show your support by encouraging young artists in your area and if you have something you feel is art, "Express Yousrelf."

Love Your Girl,

Surii May

How to wash your makeup brushes

Hey fashion lovers as you know makeup is an accessory that compliments your style. I've had a lot of questions on cleaning makeup brushes. There is cleaner available BUT if you don't have it on hand you can also use products found in your home like BABY SHAMPOO!!! I found a how to video that is great!

Check it out and leave your comments below :)

Paris Fashion Week

Hey there fashion lovers have you been keeping up with fashion week? I'm in Paris now being entertained by the over the top garments presented by iconic designers. There is way too much to mention and I do not particularly enjoy these looks so I've tapped Huffington Post's 10 Most Important Collections. Spring/Summer 2014 trends will include ruffles, sheer fabric, maybe some metallics, and a lot of side boob. Enjoy!

2013 Emmy Awards Red Carpet Fashion Picks

Hey beautiful people as you may know we had some odd looks this year but this is normal (lol). As I have done in the past, I will be providing my picks of dresses only. I will not be commenting on makeup, accessories, and hair. If you hadn't heard yet, one beautiful female comedian rocked a little black dress that only cost $60. Kudos to Sarah Silverman! Of course now that we know this dress WAS $60 the price has gone up about %270 ($162.00). I'm not going to post the link to their website (even though they have really cute dresses) because they should not have raised the price so drastically. Perhaps $20-$40 increase would have been more reasonable and a little less greedy. I digress... enjoy my picks and feel free to leave your comments :)

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014

Hey fashionistas I'm sure you know that Fashion week is taking place in New York this month but many have asked, "what's hot for this fall?". Well... here's a little information on how Fashion week works. There are two major seasons per year - Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer. For womenswear, the Autumn/Winter shows always start in New York in February and end in Paris in March. Spring/Summer shows start in New York in September and end in Paris in October. So what I will be sharing with you is the Spring/Summer looks for 2014. I will post some great fall/winter looks in the coming weeks but for now lets see what the designers have to offer for next year :)

Ugh! All trends are not cute!! Asia's picks on Espadrilles

I'm sure you have seen these trendy shoes everywhere this summer.
They are called espadrilles and am I the only one that find them hideous?

I'm not sure who made these shoes a trend and no offense to those who love them. They actually look like house shoes. They look comfortable but they don't look like they will last throughout the summer. They aren't even flattering to the foot. With that said I've scanned the internet for decent looking espadrilles. Note: I still find most pairs hideous but these are the best looking ones that I've come across. See below and let me know what you think. Salve!

Nordstrom - Soludos Lace-Up Espadrille - $44.95
Zappos - UGG Marrah - $79.90
Zappos - UGG Indah Marrakech - $59.90

Zappos - Delizah - $59.90

Its so hot my makeup is melting! Tips for summer makeup

Hey ladies I hope your summer is what you've been waiting for. Some of you may know to switch out that heavy make up for a more lighter "airy" look but for those who need some extra help I found just the article for you!!! I've posted 9 tips below but full explanations can be found here: http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/beauty/makeup/summer-makeup-tips

By: Asia Moore - Fashion Blogger

1. Make time for primer!! It provides a smooth base for whatever goes on next.

2. Lighten your face makeup. Swap foundation for tinted moisturizer. These sheer formulas look and feel airier on skin and are less likely to turn cakey on steamy days.

3. Bronze believably. To keep the results looking fresh and natural, apply bronzer just to the high points of your face, where the sun naturally hits you: forehead, cheekbones, chin, and nose.

4. Try out vibrant color. BUT DON'T OVER DO IT!!

5. Stop shine, add glow.  To eliminate unsightly shine in seconds, nothing beats blotting papers.

6. Switch out thick lipsticks.

7. Stay-proof your eye makeup. For longer-lasting shadow, avoid using eye cream on your lids (it can break down makeup), and smooth on an eye primer instead.

8. Wade into waterproof. If you tried waterproof mascaras once but found them less than stellar, it's time to give 'em another go.

9. Go sheer. To lighten up, switch to sheer versions of your go-to lip and eye hues.

Asia's Fashion Picks: Billboards 2013

Hey ya'll if you watched the Billboards in its entirety you'd know about the Miguel fail. This is the only thing that really sticks out in my mind from the show oh yes and the booing of Beiber. Other highlights were JLo's ass jiggling oh so nicely in her red hot performance as well as Nicki Minaj's slave mentality lap dance. Is it me or was she wearing butt pad leggings? That ass was stiffer than Beiber's mediocre dance moves. I'm surprised and disappointed that the fashion wasn't really in attendance. See my picks below. I was going to add Miley Cyrus but her outfit was borderline clown or joker costume, maybe a high fashion joker. Anyways onto my picks! My favorites were: Selena Gomez, JLo, Emmy Rossum, Kelly Rowland, and Carley Rae Jepsen. Photos by Jason Merritt and Kevin Mazur. Enjoy!

DTLR Style Lounge Presents New Adidas Court Attitude Sneaker

Surii May and I had so much fun at the DTLR Style Lounge in Baltimore, MD. Adidas premiered their new sneaker "Court Attitude" which received great reviews. This premiere was slightly different than what I'm used to. Not only was there music, food, and drinks DTLR also provided free manicures and haircuts! Needless to say Surii May and I were pampered. Baltimore natives truly represented by sporting all types of Adidas sneakers, jackets, sweatsuits, and backpacks. Check out the photos below and let us know what you think about the new kicks! Mabuhay!!
